Hospital Auxiliary
Hospital Auxiliary volunteers provide for the comfort of patients at both hospitals. Volunteers supply and tidy the magazines in wards and clinics at North Shore Hospital.
They provide comfort cushions, knitted blankets, polar fleece capes, baby blankets, knitted baby wear, mittens, stress cushions, toiletry items and other items as requested.

St John Volunteers – Friends of Emergency Departments (FEDS)
Volunteers from St John support our Emergency Departments, Ward 2 and 15 at North Shore Hospital. They assist staff with non-clinical tasks.
They offer support, communication, information and comfort to patients and their families/whānau.

Volunteer Stroke Service (VSS)
Volunteers from our Volunteer Stroke Service provide conversation opportunities for people with communication difficulties after a stroke. They train as conversation partners and can meet clients on a one-to-one basis or in conversation group.

Meals on Wheels (Red Cross)
Volunteers from Red Cross deliver meals prepared by our hospitals to elderly, ill and disabled people living at home who would otherwise struggle to provide healthy meals for themselves.
Delivering a hot meal every day also provides an opportunity for regular social contact for those who may be isolated. Find out more information about Red Cross Volunteers.
