Female Pelvic Health

Patient information

Pelvic floor disorders are widely experienced, yet seldom addressed issues for our health and wellbeing. Did you know that approximately two-thirds of all women will experience pelvic floor dysfunction sometime in their lives?

These issues can occur for women anytime from their early teen years throughout life, but is especially common for women who have recently given birth or had gynaecological surgery.

The Urogynaecology Service at Te Whatu Ora - Waitematā treats women with urinary incontinence (UI) and pelvic organ prolapse (POP).

Incontinence can be mild or severe (daily leakage, wearing pads and avoiding normal activities/sports). Whatever you're experiencing, we want to help because it is not normal and you should not have to tolerate it.

Our service also offers management options for complications of treatments for incontinence and prolapse.
